| The area of interest of the indie stage “Scena Lubelska 30/32” are not only mythical stories found in ancient epics, but also ceremonies, rites, dance, music and singing, which still exist in Polish traditional culture as well as in other cultures around the globe.
The performances are a quest for the natural human harmony, which is being destroyed by weaknesses.
The “Scena Lubelska 30/32” theatre is one of a kind in Warsaw and represents a rare type of theatrical performance in Poland (such as Centre for Theatre Practices “Gardzienice” or Węgajty), which concentrates on showing traditional ceremonial theatre in a modern form. |
Performances
Dawid
Spectacle „Dawid” is based on Officium for the Dead from Kantorówka village, the Bible translated by Jakub Wujek, psalms translated by Jan Kochanowski and Franciszek Karpiński.(warto podac daty)
It is a journey through life of David, son of Jesse of Bethlehem, who was chosen by the Lord to lead Israel. However, it is not very faithfully reconstructed life of the famous king. The story is not a presentation of history, but a journey inside David’s heart. It ought to put a viewer in the centre of his stormy thoughts, to show him as a brave warrior, treacherous ruler, desperate father, tender lover and friend, in the moments of weakness and glory, greatness and fall. It leads us to a meeting with the man David really was. A meeting with his fate and choices.
